The Cumberland County Commission Met in Regular Session for April on Monday

Cumberland County Commissioners approved a resolution changing procedures for accepting tires into the solid waste system. Local companies disposing of bulk tires will continue to be charged $135 per ton and the fee for residents will also remain at $1 per tire, however, residents will be limited to disposing of 5 tires in one day before a tonnage fee is charged.

In the financial update, the county reported the new Cumberland County Codes Department issued 51 building permits, 36 general mechanical permits, and 46 general plumbing permits in March 2024.  A total of $65,201 in fees were collected.

EMS collections were $397,131, which is above the budgeted monthly amount of $366,667.  Year to date, EMS is $72,378 ahead of budgeted projections with total collections of almost $3.4 million.

Sales tax for the BOE was $1.1 million which was $96,000 below budget.

Year to date, collections are almost $300,000 below budget.

Property tax collections are at 99.29 percent of budget year to date, compared to 99.26 percent at this time last year.
