The Great Smoky Mountains synchronous firefly lottery will open this Friday, April 26, 2024 at 9am Central time and closes on Monday, April 29 at 10:59pm. You can enter at www.recreation.gov. Lottery winners will be announced by Monday, May 6. Lottery applications are $1 and successful applicants will automatically be charged a $24 reservation fee. Reservations are non-refundable, non-transferable, and can only be used for the date issued. This year’s synchronous firefly viewing at the Elmont Campground will be Monday, June 3 through Monday, June 10. The fireflies start flashing around 9:30pm Eastern time.
