TBI Agents Investigating Knoxville Officer-Involved Shooting

TBI special agents are investigating the circumstances of a fatal officer-involved shooting Saturday morning in Knoxville. The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. at a home in the 4700 block of Santala Drive, where two officers from the Knoxville Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Preliminary information indicates that after officers entered the home and identified themselves, the man produced a firearm and shot the woman. The officers then shot the man, who died at the scene. The woman was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. WVLT reports that officials said she suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the face. No law enforcement officers were hurt in the incident.  The officers involved have been placed on routine administrative leave.
