Storm damage assessment continues across Tennessee and so far, the Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed one weather-related fatality in Claiborne County. It’s feared the official death toll will climb.

Severe storms Wednesday and Thursday caused damage across the state with some of the worst hit areas including Cheatham, Giles, Lincoln, Maury, Rutherford, Smith, Warren, and Wilson counties.

In Maury County, family members say a woman was killed as an EF-3 twister packing winds of 140 miles hit her home in Columbia. Over 100 homes were damaged in Maury County and 40 of those are considered destroyed.

According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, there were still over 69,000 reports of power outages statewide as of 9am Thursday.

TEMA says Crisis Cleanup has been activated for the whole state. If you need assistance with damage from the tornadoes at no cost, call the home cleanup hotline (615-488-1875) for help.

If your house or property sustained damage, take pictures before cleanup efforts and contact your insurance company.
